Congratulations June Coach of the Month Winners!

Congratulations June Coach of the Month Winners!

We are excited to announce that our June Coach of the Month Winners are……

Girls Coach of the Month: James Curry

Boys Coach of the Month: Sam Yafai

It is with great pride we report that 16 of our coaches received 36 nominations for Coach of the Month! THANK YOU to those that took the time to nominate your coach and share examples of how each of them are exemplifying our Core Values, and exceeding the high standards set forth by LFC!

Here are just a few examples of the many nominations we received for Coach James and Coach Sam:

“We are constantly amazed by Coach James’ commitment to his players and his passion for excellence! He is extraordinarily kind and patient with the girls and his positive attitude and love of the game helps his players want to excel themselves. During this challenging time, he never once showed any frustration, whether it was trying to engage a group of Kindergarten/1st Grade girls via Zoom, or in communicating tough news. He exhibits the utmost professionalism. Not only is Coach James committed to the sport and to coaching, but he has also worked hard to develop himself as a coach, and we have been delighted to see his achievements, with new responsibilities. We cannot be more happy to have Coach James be our daughter’s coach!”

“Through all these recent events, he has maintained his enthusiasm and pride for improvement whether it be in the Zoom meetings or on the field workouts. Not being able to practice in a normal setting is tough to maintain a level for improvement. He hasn’t missed a beat, energy is same high level and he works with whatever situation or hurdle is before us as we all navigate these trying times. Extremely happy we made the move and have James as our first experience with Liverpool Club.”

“Coach Sam is so dedicated to his craft. He shares his own stories to motivate the kids on and off the field. He encourages them to do their best and is never negative.”

“Coach Sam is always supportive, encouraging and positive with the kids. We are lucky to have him coaching our team and looking forward to resuming field training soon.”

“He has improved my soccer sills immensely and has extremely good advice.”

“Sam works to create an environment that motivates each player to reach their highest potential, both as an individual player and as a member of the team. He uses different techniques and styles of coaching to make sure he addresses all their needs in the process of them becoming better players.”

“Coach Sam has been Very uplifting and Optimistic thru out all of these unprecedented times with a huge smile and humor with integrity at the core. He deserves Coach of the Month for being a Role Model for these Kids”

Thank you again for your nominations; please keep them coming!

Mackenzie “Tells Us Something Good!”

Mackenzie “Tells Us Something Good!”

We are so proud of Mackenzie Sandoval from G07 Salter’s team! She is a great example of a player demonstrating our Core Values off the field! Not only did she demonstrate her COMMITMENT by using her ability to put her heart and soul into her team, she did it with DIGNITY and chose to “treat people well, expecting nothing back!”

“Since the start of covid I was feeling a little down. We decided to have some fun and spread some cheer and encouragement. My mom and I created this poster and I put them on each team member’s lawn.  My hopes were that it made the team feel together in this crazy time!”

Great job Mackenzie; thank you for choosing to make a difference, and sharing your “Something Good” story with us!

Congratulations to our “Liverpool Way” Player of the Month for June!

Congratulations to our “Liverpool Way” Player of the Month for June!

Noah Hokerson from coach Matt Dolan’s B12 team has been announced as the Player of the Month for June.

In addition to his fantastic attitude and determination, Noah has been recognized for his COMMITMENT. Here is what coach Matt had to say about him: “Throughout an extremely trying time, not only did Noah attend every meeting over the 13 week period we couldn’t be on the field, he was exemplary in completing every task that was asked of the players. He scheduled time every week (outside of the team’s scheduled practice) to work on the skills we would do during the Zoom meetings. In speaking with Noah and his parents back in May, he set himself a goal during the spring of improving his skills to a level that would be noticeable when returning to the field. It is his commitment to achieving this goal that has seen him not only improve, but flourish in the team’s weekly skills challenges where he currently occupies 1st place on the Leaderboard. I can think of no player more deserving of a nomination.”

Andrew Nicholas, LFCIA’ s Senior Manager of Soccer Schools Coaching, announced yesterday that Jesus Olivera received this outstanding recognition!

“June’s global session of the month goes all the way to California! Jesus Olivera from LFC IA SoCal has built a fantastic YDP, Week 1 ‘in possession in the defensive half’ session. Using the program overview in the Curriculum and the correct blocks from the appropriate libraries on SSP (Sports Session Planner), his session contains all the elements of an authentic, age appropriate session. Great work Jesus. I must praise Gaz (Garreth) Barker as there has been a lot of great sessions from SoCal coaches this month on SSP and we appreciate the effort you have all been putting in. Keep up the good work everyone.”

Congratulations May Coach of the Month Winners!

Congratulations May Coach of the Month Winners!

With several outstanding nominations each, we are excited to announce that our May Coach of the Month Winners are……

Girls Coach of the Month: Jamie Rose

Boys Coach of the Month: Liam Brader

It is with great pride we report that 27 of our coaches received nominations from either a player or parent from one of their teams!   THANK YOU to those that took the time to nominate your coach and share examples of how each of them are exemplifying our Core Values, and exceeding the high standards set forth by LFC!

The following is just a couple examples of the many nominations we received for Coach Liam and Coach Jamie:

“I nominate Liam Brader for coach of the month because he went above and beyond and demonstrated commitment, respect, belief, and leadership to our B2006 team during the Spring COVID quarantine/ shut down starting the first day. Specifically, Liam organized daily team workouts and kept players motivated & accountable by asking each player to submit a video + result of their regular exercise to the entire team via WhatsApp.    This program was in addition to the regular training and zoom meetings organized by the club.   Going on nearly 90 days, Liam provided nearly 1400+ (90×16) individual feedbacks to each player’s video and result in WhatsApp for all players and parents to see and respond.  I have not heard of anyone else doing this, and I imagine it took hours each day to review the videos and comment. ”

“We are new to coach Liam’s team and I can say that it’s a refreshing change from where we came from. In the short time that he has been my son’s coach I have noticed a positive change in my son. My son is no longer playing in fear but playing more free. Liam was quick to identify Connor’s strengths and weaknesses and use it to the teams advantage. He was lucky enough to play in National Cup with the 08’s and was so happy that he was able to play more than one position. Liam showed me that he is patient and passionate with the kids. During the covid break Liam continued to communicate with the team daily with exercises and drills. He also called to check in on my son to make sure we were ok. I am so looking forward to an exciting season of growth and success with Liam.”

“When Johnny was asked to try out for the club after she attended a camp, we were hesitant. We had heard some pretty bad stories about coaches and families once you go to club level. Luckily, Johnny was selected for Jamie’s team and we have had the best experience! So much so that two of our other daughters now play for Liverpool. Jamie cares so much about these girls and their development, not just as soccer players, but as people. Jamie creates a great learning environment.He really has that great balance of making training fun and keeping the girls accountable at the same time. Trust me, those girls know when it’s time to get to work! Johnny has grown so much as a player since she has been with Jamie, it’s amazing. She’s learned so much about the game, reading the field, reading teammates, skills just keep improving and he’s given her the ability to play in three different positions to keep her learning while still elevating team play. He gives his players opportunities to develop in all areas. He doesn’t pigeon hole them, he lets them develop. Jamie leads with a warmth and passion and easily motivates his teams. He loves the game and it shows in his coaching and it’s infectious! He handles himself beautifully on the sidelines even when none of us would blame him for losing it! He really strives to lead by example and it shows in our girls play and presentation on the field. Jamie really is a gem and we appreciate him very much. There’s no question in our minds he should be recognized for all he does and who he is. He’s a big donut and we love him!”

“Coach Rose has been so diligent in keeping the team active, upbeat, and informed especially with the current circumstances of the Covid-19 Pandemic. With the approaching return to the fields and training he has been very professional about preparing his teams for readiness. Given their younger age (9) it is with great care that he has brought a sense of normalcy to their lives and kept the virtual training regimens fun and instructive.”

Thank you again for your nominations; please keep them coming!

City of Irvine Issues Amended Face Covering Order

City of Irvine Issues Amended Face Covering Order

courtesy of cirtyofirvine.org

IRVINE, Calif. (June 26, 2020): On Wednesday, June 24, Irvine City Manager John Russo, in his capacity as Director of Emergency Services, released an amended Executive Order requiring the use of face coverings.

This amendment aligns with new guidance from the California Department of Health. “This Order was originally implemented by the Irvine Disaster Council on April 8, to safeguard our residents, businesses, and visitors from the spread of COVID-19,” stated City Manager John Russo. “By aligning our Order with the most recent statewide guidance, we continue the necessary measures to protect our community. It is critical we work together and follow health directives, allowing businesses to reopen and individuals to get back to work.”

Other existing guidelines remain in effect, such as the need to maintain six feet of social distancing, wash your hands frequently, refrain from touching your face, and stay home when ill.

The Executive Order states all Irvine residents and visitors shall wear a cloth face covering or face shield when:

  • In a public place;
  • Visiting a retail, commercial or other place of business;
  • At work, and;
  • When the resident or visitor is not able to maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from another person who is not a family/household member or live in the same living unit.

Additional requirements to this Order include:

  1. All businesses must cause their patrons, in addition to their employees, to wear face coverings and observe social distancing and infection control requirements.
  2. Businesses allowed to reopen must post signage advising patrons of the face cover and social distancing requirements.
  3. Failure to enforce face covering obligation can ultimately result in store closure.
  4. Failure for individuals to comply with this Order are subject to civil enforcement actions.

The face covering order shall not apply to children under the age of 2; to anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the face-covering or face shield without assistance; or to persons with a medical or mental health condition, or development disability, that prevents wearing a cloth face covering or face shield.

This Order will remain in effect until terminated or amended by further Order of the Director of Emergency Services.
